Woodbridge Tennis Club has various social tennis sessionsWe’re thrilled to have been shortlisted in the ‘Club of the Year’ category for the forthcoming East Suffolk Business and Communities Awards taking place in October.

The awards recognise the contributions, initiatives and successes of local businesses, groups and individuals within the East Suffolk region over the past 18 months.

As a club, we’ve been continuing to work hard on various projects that aim to attract new members, provide comprehensive coaching opportunities and enhance our facilities to ensure a fully inclusive and safe environment for players of all abilities.

We currently have 221 senior players and 183 juniors, ranging in age from four to 91-years-old. We’ve also got more than 60 adult members playing matches in local leagues this summer, and increased our coaching team to five qualified coaches to meet the growing demand in the town and surrounding area.

New garden at Woodbridge Tennis ClubRecent improvements at the club have included the conversion of former football changing rooms into a tennis clubhouse incorporating toilets and washing facilities. Elsewhere, we’ve created an attractive garden area with seating and a new cycle rack to help reduce our carbon footprint. Woodbridge Tennis Club also recycles its used balls through a service called ‘Recycaball’, which are then donated to such charities as Save the Children and the RSPCA.

Club Chairman Steve Lemon, said: “We’re thrilled that Woodbridge Tennis Club has gained this recognition for its progressive and inclusive approach to offering tennis to all ages and abilities. We’re passionate about tennis and encouraging anyone who wants to come along to pick up a racket and have some fun and fitness while making new friends.”
