After returning from a holiday trip to South Africa, one of our club members Katie mentioned she was woking with a charity providing sporting activities for children in Africa. She was humbled by the fact that they didn’t all have any trainers or shoes.
Katie approached the coaching team and some members to ask what we did with our old tennis trainers. As a club we collected our trainers over 6 months which amounted to a lot of shoes!
Katie had a return visit to Africa and kindly donated our trainers to the charity. The club also hosted a Christmas raffle to help pay for the extra luggage costs of transportation.
The children were very grateful, sending a lovely photo and thank you letter in response. It was very kind of everyone who donated and lovely to make a difference in a positive way to help out with recycling footwear in this way.
